C Wing assist at Centre Bounce Stoppage

May 9, 2025

Role of the C-Wing:

  • Position just behind the contest, in the defensive area or back corner of the square.

  • When the ball is bounced or balled up, the C-Wing runs in to support the T-shape forward structure.

Tactical Objectives:

  • Creates a 6v4 advantage at the contest upon impact.

  • Offers an extra access point through the additional 2 players either to:

    • Win the contest,

    • Apply pressure,

    • Or provide a clean exit option (locate and release).

  • If a second stoppage occurs:

    • The C-Wing rotates into a sweeping role, guarding space and preparing to counter any exit.

  • Particularly valuable when not dominant at the stoppage source—adds cover and stability.

  • Helps negate opposition clearances and generate momentum swings by balancing numbers at the source.

Drills:

  • Simulate centre bounce scenarios with C-Wing entry
  • Rotate players through both inside and sweeping roles.
