Switch on Uncontested Marks Defensively – Back Half

January 9, 2025

Scenario:
The opposition kicks 4 goals in a row.

What Needs to Happen:
We must implement a change.

Why:
Allowing 4 goals can quickly turn into 6, putting us in a more challenging position.

How:
We reload the backline with numbers, creating an 8v6 scenario (e.g., "Drain the Vein"). This tactic disrupts their momentum and limits their scoring opportunities.

When:
We activate this strategy when the opposition has either:

  • 3 consecutive forward entries, or
  • Scores 2 goals in a row.

By doing so, we "drain their vein" (adrenaline), taking away their momentum and regaining control.
